Features include disease guides for 204 rare conditions, drug information pages with mechanisms of action and side effects, interactive treatment timelines, drug comparison charts, an AI chat assistant, clinical trial search with plain-English eligibility translation, trial matching, medication conflict checking, and a learning center. Trial data is pulled directly from ClinicalTrials.gov, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Drug information is sourced from FDA prescribing labels and published clinical trials.

Trial Friend uses artificial intelligence in several ways: the “Translate to plain English” feature simplifies clinical trial eligibility criteria, the AI chat assistant answers questions about conditions and treatments, and glossary tooltips provide plain-language definitions of medical terms. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors, oversimplifications, or omissions. Always refer to the original eligibility criteria on ClinicalTrials.gov, the FDA prescribing label for drug information, and your healthcare provider before making decisions about treatment or trial participation. AI chat conversations are sent to our server for processing, stored anonymously, and automatically deleted after 90 days.
Drug information pages, treatment timelines (Treatment Arcs), drug comparison charts, and side effect data are sourced from FDA prescribing information, published clinical trials, and established medical guidelines. This content is for educational purposes only and is not personalized medical advice. Treatment timelines show typical patterns from clinical data and may not reflect your individual experience. The questions you answer to personalize a treatment timeline (medication start date, formulation, lab status, side effects) are saved in your browser's localStorage so your progress persists between visits, and are never sent to our servers. Always discuss treatment decisions with your doctor or specialist.
The Match Me tool scores how well clinical trials may fit your profile based on condition, age, location, and treatment history. The medication conflict checker scans trial exclusion criteria against medications you enter. These tools help narrow your research but cannot determine actual trial eligibility. Only the trial's research team can make that determination. Results may not include all relevant trials, and medication interactions may not be comprehensive. Always consult your healthcare provider and the trial coordinator directly.
Trial Friend may display clearly labeled advertisements, sponsored downloads, or promotional content from pharmaceutical companies, patient advocacy foundations, research organizations, and other healthcare partners. All sponsored content is marked as such and is visually distinct from editorial content. Advertising relationships do not influence Trial Friend's drug information, treatment timelines, comparison charts, side effect data, or any other medical content. The presence of an advertisement does not constitute an endorsement by Trial Friend.
Trial Friend may offer voluntary surveys, questionnaires, or feedback forms. Participation is always optional and will never affect your access to the site. De-identified, aggregate survey results may be shared with research or advocacy partners. You will always be informed at the start of a survey how your responses will be used.
Trial data is sourced from ClinicalTrials.gov and is updated in real time. However, trial status, eligibility criteria, and other details can change at any time. We cannot guarantee that all information displayed is current or complete. Always verify trial details directly with the trial sponsor or site.
You may use Trial Friend for personal, non-commercial purposes to search for and learn about clinical trials. You may not scrape, crawl, or systematically access the service in an automated manner. You may not use the service to collect personal information about other users.
